Bendung Gerak Serayu is the first dam in Indonesia, located south of Purwokerto town in the district Rawalo precisely. Located not far from my home so I often visit here. The distance is only 7 Km. Bendung Gerak Serayu was built in 1993 and inaugurated its use by President Suharto on 20 November 1996.
With Bendung Gerak Serayu, Serayu streams can be accommodated and controlled. Subsequently distributed to irrigate an area of tens of thousands of hectares of rice fields in three areas, Banyumas, Cilacap, and Kebumen.
